Privacy
The short version: your images never leave your device. Here is the longer version, in plain language.
Your images
Pinchy compresses images and documents inside your browser, using your device’s own processor. Your files are never uploaded to our servers or anyone else’s, and we never see them, their names or what’s in them.
While you work, files live only in your browser’s memory. Close or reload the page and they’re gone.
How we make sure
The site sends strict security rules (a Content Security Policy) that only allow the page to talk to Pinchy itself. Even if something went wrong in our code, the browser would block your files from being sent elsewhere.
You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab and compress something. You won’t see any of your files being sent. (The only downloads are Pinchy’s own: the app itself, and tools such as the PDF reader the first time you need them.)
What we collect
We don’t use cookies and we don’t run analytics or advertising.
Like every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) receives basic technical information when your browser loads the site, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. We don’t use this to identify you.
If we add privacy-friendly analytics in future, it will count page visits and feature use only, never images or file names, and we’ll update this page first.
Settings saved on your device
Pinchy remembers your settings and light or dark mode in your browser’s local storage, so they’re there next time. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Changes
If anything in this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
